CLEANING GROUT Grout is a rough and porous material used to fill in between tile flooring. The follwing cleaning tips for grout apply: • clean regularly; cleaning is most effective when grout is moist • do NOT use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers on grout • use a long bristle vegetable brush or someting similiar to gently scrub • apply cleaning agent and let sit for at least 5 minutes; let the agent do the work for you Do NOT combine chlorine bathroom cleaners with ammonia for cleaning grout. The two substances together can create a potentially fatal gas. There are advanced cleaners that do not produce chlorine when used but have a greater surface binding action for longer mold and mildew control. They are made up of a blend of mold-resistant compounds and surfactants that penetrate the grout, vaporize slowly, have a high surface binding action and offer residual cleaning action. The most effective cleaners float dirt from grout and tile without using environmentally harmful detergents. When cared for properly, the grout in your tiling and/or flooring can last a long time and should not need to be replaced. |
