FLOOR CARE INSPECTION & EVALUATION PROGRAM

An inspection and evaluations program can improve the quality and efficiency of your summer C. U. R. E. (Clean Up Room Evaluation) cleaning program within any school district. Inspect and "grade" the floor areas on an "A, B, or C" basis in order to determine the level of cleaning and labor required. The appearance of your facility and the quality of your cleaning program will improve by working smarter with the resources at your disposal. As with all programs, it starts with the proper planning.

Planning starts with a visual inspection of all rooms using the Summer C.U.R.E. form (insert). Walk through the classrooms, corridors, etc. looking at: walls, desks, fixtures, lighting, and floors. List Maintenance and custodial items requiring attention and rate the rooms as A,B,C,D,etc. according to condition and what floor work needs to be done.

A = General cleaning. B = Light scrub and recoat. C = Deep scrub and recoat. D = Total strip and recoat. E = Carpet extraction. F = Carpet shampooing / Bonnet buffing. G = Carpet vacuum and spot removal.

What major repairs & maintenance work needs to be done. Note on the C.U.R.E. form and write work orders where needed. Check dispensing and proportioning equipment. Determine when the work is to be scheduled (day/shift), personnel needed, inventory of supplies, equipment and chemicals. Place orders as required. Check condition of equipment and schedule maintenance and repair.

Use a systematic approach when doing the actual cleaning. Start with the middle and common room areas first. Move to the perimeter classrooms next. All repair and maintenance work is done first where possible. Work top to bottom and clockwise in the rooms.
